I guess this is the generic version of tanglefoot...good news is, it works just as well. Couple things to note. While tanglefoot consistency is smooth and fairly easy to apply, this version has a thicker, bumpy consistency. The application brush is crap; all of them are, same goes with tanglefoot. If you’re applying this stuff to small surfaces like cups or hats, the brush will work fine. Regardless of what you put it on, it needs to be about a millimeter or so thick, same goes for tanglefoot. If you’re using this stuff on those black fly balls, you can completely cover 2 of them with one can with a very little left over. Those Bug Ball traps are ~1017 sq inches, so of course you’re gonna go through can in a hurry. I use a carpenters pencil to dollop a glob on the top and work it across the surface. Takes about 5 mins to coat the ball evenly with way less effort and no mess. While the stuff stays sticky in the hot sun or rain, over time it’ll get coated with enough flies and dust to need changing. If you’re using a beach ball (terrible idea), throw it away and start over. The Bug Ball is silicone and can take some scraping. Wear some gloves. Nitrile gloves work fine. Use some twine or wire to hang the ball at eye height to make your life way easier. Also, use pinch some of the material at the bottom and attach a spring clamp to help hold the ball still while you’re cleaning or applying the glue. When it’s time to clean the ball and reapply new glue (usually every 45 days) I just spray the surface with some diesel fuel and let it sit for a minute or two and then scrape it all off with a smooth but dull blade. Once all the glue is off, I clean the surface with a rag covered in acetone so the new glue will stick. All this takes about 20 mins.
